2026 Palisade Calligraphy AWD
In 2026 we purchased a new 2026 Palisade Calligraphy Hybrid AWD just the way we wanted.
When I bought the Chrysler 300 I determined that it would be the most driven car and we would dispose of it when I retired getting us down to one car.
I retired in 2021 and started my journey to replace the Chrysler 300 with another car that could pull our little fold up utility trailer, easy to get our elderly body out of, comfortable for longer trips, could hold several grocery coolers in the back and get good mileage. Our 2016 Charger is a good car but lacked several of the needed requirements. We determined that the Chrysler 300 that had 122k miles was the first to go and the charger would be sold at a later date.
We started getting serious 2023 when we test drove a Dodge Durango. The Durango was a nice fit but did not get the mileage and was missing several options that we were accustomed to. I felt the price was high for what we would be getting.
In 2024 we then turned our attention to a Pacifica. A van would work for us and got the same gas mileage as the Chrysler 300. It was comfortable, easy to get in and out, could tow my trailer but to get the options we wanted we needed to get the Pacifica Pinnacle option. By the time we got the options we wanted we were over $60k and we decided to wait a year and put the deck on the back side of the house instead. Well in 2025 Chrysler changed the options and had removed several options we wanted so we kept waiting and looking for the right car.
In the fall of 2025 I drove through a dealer lot that had what I thought was a Landcruiser and I drove up to it to find that it was instead a Palisade. I began to research the Palisade and found that it came with a 4 cylinder Hybrid option with more horsepower the the Pacifica or the 6cyl Durango and better mileage. We drove through the dealer lot several months later but they did not have what we wanted so we again waited. The next 4 trips to the dealer in Council Bluffs Iowa did not even get us a salesman to greet us. In Fact I heard that they did not have any salesmen and were having problems hiring any.
In May of 2026 we were at a train show in Lincoln Nebraska and dropped by the dealer and they had at least 10 Palisades that had the options we wanted with black interior so we picked out an exterior color we liked and drove it home. (I liked black exterior color but hard to keep clean, I liked white but it would never get washed, green, blue and burgundy were not our color so we chose a stately brown. We both like it )
