1967 Camaro

This is my 3rd car purchased in 1972 Clays Cars in Evergreen(South of Able Body). I was a sophomore in high school and I worked at B&B Variety to make the car payments. My pride and joy. It came with a 3 speed of which I upgraded to a 4 speed. It had 15in tires and wheels and I upgraded to 14in wheels with 13in wide tires and 12in wheels on the rear and 8in wide tires and wheels on the front. It had a fold down back seat which was the only one I ever was in a 1967 Camaro. I installed an 8 track with a blinky light bar for sound and show. The 8track and light bar were state of the art in 1972

I took the engine, transmission, tires and wheels and sold the body 1975 to Kelly.

Sold Super Bee 1976 and purchased the Camaro back….

I then added the M21 4 speed transmission from the 67 Chevelle, 12 bold posi differential with 3:90 ratio, traction bars, Borg and Beck pressure plate and clutch and of course the engine.

The engine was only a 2 bolt main 327 block with 11:5 pistons, a crazy cam that I cannot remember specs, the heads were ported, polished and matched with custom reliefs for over sized valve springs, headers, double roller timing, high output oil pump and Accel ignition. On top was a TR1Y from Edelbrock with dual 600cfm hollys.

I had now successfully taken a nice 20 mile per gallon sports car into an almost 500hp 4 miles to the gallon street beast. The carburetors stuck up above the hood so I did not put the hood on. After driving without a hood for several weeks I came to the conclusion that I want to see the road and have a hood so I backed down to an Offenhauser 360 DP with a 750 Holly DP. It was more manageable and more in the 425hp range getting close to 6mpg and my Z28 hood back on.

I got married in the spring of 1977 and my father died Oct 1st 1977 and left my mother with a half finished home so my wife and I moved out to the ranch and my pride and joy was sold to make a down payment on a 1977 Chevy 4X4 pickup.
