1978 Chevy Malibu

We backed down from a new car to a nice used 1978 Chevy Malibu.

As with most cars they come with a story. This is no exception! We had just sold the 1984 Celebrity and needed a car. Located the car in the local trader and took a look. It was not all polished up. In fact the paint was so dull and had primer showing in places. We made them an offer of $1300 without driving it and of course they rejected the offer and held firm to a $2200 price. We drove it down the street and when we returned the car we again offered $1300. I mentioned if they could make the knock in the motor go away I may offer more. We left our name and number and for them to call if they changed their mind and we headed home. Before we got home they had called and accepted out $1300 offer.

The car was not much to look at and the motor had a knock. We built a new home and after we moved in I pulled the fuel pump rod and replaced it and the fuel pump. That fixed the knock of a typical 305v8. I then sanded the car down and gave it a new coat of paint that had a bit more shine to it.

This car ended up going away in a divorce settlement.
