1981 Ford F350 4×4
1981 Red Ford 1 ton truck with a 4 speed transmission, 4:11 gears, sunroof, 4×4.
Sold my yellow 68 Chevy C10 Long bed Pickup to Todd and purchased this truck. I wish I would have taken pictures of the F350 when I purchased it. Lets see if I can explain how bad it was. The had a rusted out spot by the drivers door. The hood had a crack in the middle. I am not sure what the precious owner carried in the bed of the truck but it must have been heavy and large because both sides of the box were broken in several places and the box was a foot wider above the wheel wells than at either the front or tailgate.
Doug my boss let me use his shop and bill let me use his welder. I pulled the box straight and welded the cracks and holes. Then I reinforced the box a bit to keep everything straight. I found the hood had bondo that had cracked so I stripped the hood and correctly fixed a dent. The outsides of the box has some chemical on it that I had to remove by sanding and sealing the box. The big front bumper was just a rusted unpainted bumper and I ground it down to metal sealed, primed and painted an aluminum color. I sanded the rust out of the wheels and gave them a coat of white. It looked good when I was finished.
This camper hauler got 9 miles to the gallon uphill downhill empty or loaded. and had two 20 gallon dual tanks and you needed them both to go 200 miles.
I was living in a mobile home and decided to accumulate some cash so I sold the F350, Camper and both motorcycles. I paid $1600 for the F350 and when I sold it I got $4200. It was a good heavy duty camper hauler and I hated to see it go. It went for a good cause.
